Cassis and all day/night train ride to Cortona

Went for another scooter ride before breakfast. Went to the train station to check out the schedule from Cassis back to Marseille. Even though it was another sunny beautiful day, it gets cold on the back of that scooter. We stopped and had breakfast at Mr. Brun - bread/fruit/yogurt/juice/coffee - while looking over the port and soaking in the sun. We went for another long scooter ride, driving around aimlessly, trying to enjoy every last minute of our scooter rental. After we dropped our scooter off, we walked back into town. We got a couple of sandwiches and sweet treats, and sat on the pier while watching life go by. Lots of tourists, almost entirely French speaking. Only heard English spoken once among all the tourists.

After another long wait for a cab to the train station, but I think there are only 3 cabs in Cassis, we met a couple of American women trying to get back to Marseille again. We ended up deciding to take the cab back to Marseille (about the same as 4 train tickets from Cassis to Marseille, and far more convenient - but less scenic).

Had a few hours to spare before our train ride, so we hung out in Marseille and had beers and played cards at a small little dive restaurant. I don't think they are used to having any women there (and I had a feeling I was one of very few women they saw that day) by the mere fact that there was only one single door labeled 'homme'. But they did serve a mean doner kebab.

This would be our last adventure in France before heading off on our long train route to Cortona to meet up with H&M (Jer's parents).

We took a train from Marseille to Lyon (2h), Lyon to Dijon (2h), Dijon to Firenze (aka Florence - overnight train) (9h), Firenze to Cortona (1.5h).

Long evening/night/morning ahead of us.

Au revoir France - a la prochaine. xox
