Wednesday 5 January 2011: Up North Life Ain't Sweet
Quality Street
(dedicated to food critic A.A. Gill)
There ain't much quality
down our street.
It's full of villains
that you don't want to meet.
There are muggers and rapists
with tattooed fists
and underage children
all getting pissed.
It's booze and drugs,
pushers and junkies,
pimps and tarts
flanked by flunkeys.
And should we discover
you're from down south
you'll soon get a punch
in your cynical mouth.
So don't risk going out
for a bite to eat
cos there ain't much quality
down our street.
Once again the lovely Lady La la has inspired another blip and poem from me.
