Black Mill

Late afternoon escape to Beverley Westwood and managed to watch the sunset by the Black Mill. It was once a windmill although quite why it has a battlement on top is a bit of a mystery.

I had a curious encounter with an ex-army photographer who saw me taking pictures whilst walking his dog. We discussed cameras and he advised me on the most photogenic places in the locality. He also told stories of hazardous photographic assignments in Afghanistan. It was surreal in the chill setting sun talking about the heat and sand of a desert landscape in a war zone. It's hard to judge sometimes, and most stories are embellished aren't they, but he seemed knowledgeable and genuine so I'd like to believe it was all true.
