Cold waters

'Blip me' I said.

He did.

And now I'm blipping.

And so, here I am, posting My First Post. The National Cold Water Swimming championships were taking place at Tooting Bec Lido. And, oh my, it was cold. And that was just watching.

The water was a little over three degrees. A mundane fact I always remember from secondary school physics is that water starts to become less dense below four degrees as it changes its structure, ready to solidify. This water was ready to solidify.

So, this photo. It's of someone coming round to start the second lap of the endurance race. Which is only two laps. But that's around 7 minutes of swimming in near freezing water.

Those who took the plunge, I salute you.
