Around the Block

Not many people know this...

...but Robert Burns, Scotland's National Bard, and Tom Jobim, the Brazilian composer and leading light of Bossa Nova (particularly well known for 'The Girl from Ipanema' and his collaboration with Sinatra), share a birthday today (168 years apart, 1759 and 1927, respectively)! Perhaps a reincarnation!

So tonight we will be having caipiroska with our haggis!

Burns' love songs are, for me, his strongest suit, so here's a love song by Jobim called Corcovado (with English subtitles). Corcovado is the mountain above Rio on which the statue 'Christ the Reedemer' stands.

PS
This is a photo/portrait montage assembled on my laptop with a couple of relevant CDs strategically positioned on top!
