Fireworks

It began to rain again today, and the garden glistens in the soft afternoon light. The drainpipe right outside my window rumbles quietly; it's always had a peculiar sound, particularly in the wind, when it sounds remarkably like a barking elephant seal. It's a strange way to feel cozy, not at all the traditional romantic murmur of rain on the roof.
