Minor Mystery

To me, this building in Coburg Street always looks as if it used to be a cinema. As I was walking past it today, I took a proper look at the stones set into the front of it. The uppermost one explains that Coburg House dates from 1931, and was built on the site of Carpenters Land.

The bottom inscription reads The above stone removed from old tenement in Sand Port Street now taken down and placed here 1810 - while the stone itself reads God bless the Carpenter of N. Leith who built this house 1715.

I liked the way the dates went further and further back - though to be honest, I couldn't quite work out the sequence of events!
