Wednesday 9 February 2011: Passing the Budget - Number 4

I have a little routine when voting in the chamber : I write down, on the voting instructions sheet, the result of a vote as it is read out by the Presiding Officer giving it a tick (for success) or a cross (for a defeat). Tonight's Stage 3 Budget Vote marks the fourth successful passage of an SNP budget led by John Swinney - the figures speak for themselves. I suspect very few people thought that as a minority government we would see out a full term - but this marks the fact that we are more than likely to! Moreover , given Labour's crass and hypocritical behaviour this week on this and Megrahi I hope it presages at least four more SNP budgets to follow.
