#UKuncut bank job

More UK Uncut shenanigans today. Branches of NatWest, LloydsTSB and RSB were targeted up and down the country for the taxes they've avoided and bonuses they've handed out while the government is telling us we can't afford libraries or social care any more.

The stunts, always good-natured, are getting more and more inspirational. Protestors in Camden turned their local branch of NatWest into a creche; by the end bank staff were playing life-sized Operation with the kids. The one I attended transformed one of the busiest LloydsTSB branches into a classroom with lectures from eminent economists.

Later we headed into Marylebone. It's a pretty exclusive neighbourhood, yet we still got overwhelming support from passers-by on foot and in their Mercs and Range Rovers. It begged the question: if the well-heeled folks in that part of town don't even back the cuts, who the hell does?

Today was also a landmark for the growing Uncut movement, with similar protests taking place in the US, Canada (which I am assuming explains the presence of a mountie in my picture; I cannot explain Father Ted, however) and across Europe.
