Sunday 27 February 2011: Through The Round Window
We had cause to go to the Midlothian Innovation Centre at Bush this afternoon.
Scattered around the grounds are various small statues and fountains. A few years ago, when Mr Flum worked there, it was called Pentlandfield Business Park and round the back was a neatly landscaped garden where employees could relax to the sound of running water or wander along pebble paths, with birdsong in the background.
We saw it today, sadly faded from glory as there has been little maintenance for some time; the stream and pond are weedy, some cobbles are missing from the edges and the display of dolphins disappeared altogether.
However the vista through the round window still draws the eye to the shapely path with the bridge and the delightful 'bronze' horse heads remain on their pillars either side of the brickwork, a blip subject of their own.
I hope someone takes pity on the garden before nature reclaims it.
