Saturday 26 February 2011: House Hunting
The nesting box had a few changes before the bluetits took any interest last year but they still found the opening a little too small, squeezing themselves in and out. Earlier this year we saw one pecking at the hole to enlarge it. Now we see them checking the sightlines to assess its suitability for this year.
I wish I could tell whether these are last year's parents, one of their brood or maybe an unrelated pair but I'll be happy just to see a successful brood take flight.
Incidentally, along the roof of the shed we have those spikey things, used to stop pigeons nesting on ledges, to keep the cats away.
