Frost

Dallam Park, Milnthorpe, Cumbria

I drove past Dallam Park every morning for 10 years before I became a compulsive blipper - without ever appreciating how beautiful it is in the early morning with frost on the grass, long shadows from the trees, and reflections in the River Bela. Now every time when the sun shines I have to stop and risk being late for work.

It looked like it was going to be just another day at the office, catching up with reporting and starting to tie up the loose ends of my current job. Then we had a phone call reporting that someone was wielding a chainsaw in a woodland Site of Special Scientific Interest in the central Lake District. A quick dash out in the afternoon to investigate and track down who was doing it. On the way back we stopped briefly for a view over one of the Lakes, it was lovely but it didn't compare to this view of Dallam.

Tonight I had not one, but two blip consultants to help with the choice. Our guests are here for the weekend. We've been out for a meal this evening and are now about to watch the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I loved the book, so I'm hoping the film measures up. I will catch up with comments later.
