The Edge of the Wold

Not an otter

View down the Kent Estuary from the Arnside Pier.

I had a feeling that something special might happen this afternoon as the sun set. After a drab, overcast day, in the afternoon there was a gap in the west below the cloud layer. It had been a long working week, so I left the office at 4 pm and headed home to Arnside. When I first arrived on the pier, there was still no sign of any colour in the sky. Then over the next 15 minutes, the most beautiful sunset unfolded, with the sky light and its reflections changing rapidly. It's been quite a few weeks since we've had a sunset like this, and even longer since I last blipped one in Arnside.

After Willoughby's otter blip coup yesterday, at lunchtime I had a walk with Sue and Rowan along the River Kent past K shoes and up to the Riverside Cafe. But no otters for me today, so the sunset was good compensation, there was very little in the blip bank when I arrived back in Arnside.

And now it's the weekend.
