Sheila's perfume

Today's the day ........................ to withstand the drought

We've been away for more than ten days - and as anyone who has been reading this journal will know - our time away coincided almost exactly with a spell of scorching summer weather.

Tim and Melanie came to water the plants in the garden whenever they could, but quite honestly, you would have needed to have been out there probably twice a day, such was the ferocity of the heatwave. So, we were expecting to find that quite a few of the plants would have succumbed in our absence.

But we were pleasantly surprised that most seemed to be ok - including the most welcome return to flowering of my best rose, aptly named Sheila's perfume ............................
