Polytunnel 2: March

Cold and frosty morning followed by the most glorious sunshine - T shirt weather even! I have achieved today - washed the car, cleaned the house and did an hour and a half gardening. Birds, bees and butterflies all out and about.

At the beginning of February I decided to try and keep a monthly record of what goes on in the polytunnel. This is what it looked like a month ago. It might look pretty much the same but there are a few subtle differences: on the right handside garlic and rainbow chard are in evidence and behind them if you look very carefully you can see the salads popping up next to the parsley! The little bench now has trays full of baby peas, broadbeans, spinach and sweetpeas. Everywhere's had a bit of a dig over too. We have two wwoofers arriving next week so the work begins in earnest then.

Very exciting - I've just booked tickets to see Macbeth at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. We used to live near Stratford upon Avon and would go quite a lot. I even worked there for six months - a very hard job indeed - tutor to six young teenagers who were the stars in A Secret Garden - each one a budding diva with rampant hormones, and guess what, they were not remotely interested in lessons! However, the perks were very good in the form of free tickets. The main theatre has been closed for several years and just re-opened with a spanking new building so I can't wait to see what it's like. We're not going till September but that's something to look forward to.

More outrage over here - the bankers are still paying themselves massive bonuses at tax payers expense. Do they not learn. Should we all revolt??
And the Irish beat the English at cricket!! Much hilarity and pride at that!
