The Path to High Wallowbarrow Farm, Duddon Valley

- Backblip -

Lake District : Day 1

We drove down last evening, arriving just before midnight. We always enjoy coming here to the Duddon Valley, to unwind and get away from it all. Our friend H inherited the cottage from her aunt and we are fortunate to have had several stays here.

One of our favourite walks is from the church at Seathwaite, over to Wallowbarrow, up the gorge to Grassguards and then down the hill to the Fickle Steps, which are stepping stones in the Duddon River. I think this image says it all about the recent weather, that the farm track has become a stream. At least the farmer has left the gate open.

We just managed to cross the stepping stones. There is a wire to hang onto, but some of the stone were submerged.
