500 in a row

The weather knew it was my 500th today, so it became much more challenging to think of something to blip. As I was driving my 5 year old son home from school, it came to me to find some place where the rain wouldn't reach us. The first place that came to mind was under the bridge.

I took several nice shots of my son posing against a graffiti-covered concrete wall, but this was my favorite for the story behind it.

As we walked down to this spot, my son immediately spotted some bones (just out of sight here but on the left behind him). Not small bones, but very large bones. Near the pile of bones was a tattered, red sheet from a mattress. He decided these were human bones and wanted to poke around in the red sheet to find the human skull. Needless to say, I was quickly scanning the bones myself to determine what creature they could be from.

I'm fairly certain (fortunately) that the bones were from a medium-sized deer. I have no idea what the sheet was doing there and hope the two aren't related. So now he's planning a trip back to this place with a wagon, gloves and a shovel to make off with his mysterious bones. And he's still certain he'll find that human skull and solve the mystery (he is already saving his pennies for "paleontology college").

An enormous thank you to the blipfoto crew of course, as this is a second home to me. Since starting blip, I've been hired for portraits, sold landscape work and been published. I've had good times and bad times. I've made so many friends, and I do call you friends. I don't really think it matters if we've shaken hands or hugged, we are all still connected.

I look forward to all the days of blipping and can't wait to continue. I have captured so much of my life and the lives of others here, that I just can't imagine it should end.

See you tomorrow!!

And a note on the processing: This is three separate exposures (-2, 0, 2), handheld and processed in Photomatix with my own special mixture. Then a little despeckle in Photoshop topped off with a vignette...just in case you are wondering.
