Mother and Son

We went to an art show at Bob's school today and I purposefully took my little camera instead of my big camera. It's a family event, no need to lug around a big DLSR.

There were a number of other parents their with their DSLRs and so naturally I felt a little embarrassed with my little point and shoot. I know it's stupid, but that's what it is.

Of course, I felt the whole thing was silly to start with. An art show for three year olds? I draw with Bob as much as he will tolerate it, but he has no control over the process yet so why do we hold the work up as if it has some value?

I had no expectations of the work, so I was not at all disappointed. It was an event for the parents to get together. So yeah, it was not for the kids, it was for us.

But I really have to wonder why parents were taking pictures of their children's work. What on Earth are they going to do with a picture of the work when they can just have the work itself?

Or maybe I'm just a grumpy old man.
