C'mon, gimme a kiss!

Is it a question of the master and his dog, or is it just the other way round?

Deedle, the Great Dane, soon 9 years old, has been with us since he was three months old.
He is a lovely dog, friendly, and can so easily be affronted when one speaks too loud with him... he is quite touchy in that respect and will return to his place on the stoep and sulk until he is sure that you are not cross with him ...

Apart from being a size and a half, his daily intake of food is limited and we strictly adhere to the prescribed amount, which is 3 cupfuls of dog pellets in the morning and the same at night.

We rarely give anything else, or titbits, as it is very impoortant that his weight be kept down, as they easily suffer with joint and hip problems.

However, over the festive season, when we have visitors, he occasionally gets some of the left overs - which he likes beyond description.

As he is a Merle, he carries genes that may cause blindness or deafness should he be used to breed with. So, poor Deedle has never had the pleasure of a loving relationship, he was neutered about two years ago.

We have three Greyhounds that keep him company and they all love their walks in the forest nearby.

He adores Johann and they are more or less inseparable.

Deedle weighs 67kg.
