Fly away Peter

Another lovely day, so we headed up into the foothills of Canigou (a Pyreneen mountain) for a walk. A long windy drive through beautiful forests up to a Gite d'Etape (like a youth hostel for walkers) on the long distance footpath that goes through the Pyrenees. We had a lovely long and thankfully level walk along an old roadway to an ancient lookout tower, with wild(ish) horses on the way and lots of brambles to eat. Then a french hunter's lunch (bread and sausage - though without the wine he'd probably have brought along) and back to the car with crickets jumping all around us and eagles overhead.

Amazing autumn colours, but with weather warm enough to wear just a t-shirt. Not something I'm used to! Sadly the weather was too hazy to get any great shots of the colours, whatever filter I tried, maybe another day will be clearer.

We did spot this eagle from the road up to the mountain and, even though I was only quick enough to get a shot of its bum, that's your shot for today.

We're having a bit of a think about moving down here (which we have been havering about pretty much constantly since we bought the place 10 years ago). Today was definitely a tick in the 'yes' column.
