Triffid

Anyone know what this is?

It grows just over our wall. It's huge and the leaves and stalks look like rhubarb. But it puts up these huge flower spikes. When the buds open its a kind of frothy pale creamy green. We think it may be ornamental rhubarb but aren't sure. It may be edible rhubarb which is flowering, but we're not brave enough to try it.
