New feature: full resolution uploads

Following last month's announcement, we're pleased that all our careful planning and hard work paid off - Blipfoto had a pain-free move to its new home. We know many of you have noticed a massive increase in speed and reliability, which is great.

So now we've settled in to our new home, we're finally able to start incorporating the member features. And here's the first...

As of now, you can upload full resolution images to Blipfoto.

This means you don't need to reduce the size of your files any more - just upload your original and we'll take care of the rest.

If you're a founding member, your full-size originals will be safely stored, and next week we'll give you the tools to retrieve them whenever you like. You'll also get the option to let viewers see super-sized versions of your images on your journal.

If you plan to purchase a membership at a later date you will be able to add super-size versions to your journal retrospectively, but to do so you'll have to start uploading full resolution images now.

So there are good reasons for everyone to start uploading bigger images now.

As part of this new upload process, every image we create from your original will be expertly sharpened at each size (super size, standard size, large and small thumbnails), and all images will be tagged with the sRGB colour profile. In other words, everyone's images are about to start looking a little bit better.

That's it - we'll have more to tell you about next week. In the meantime, let us know if you encounter any problems by leaving a comment below.
