Northern Exposure

Down, down, down...

Today, armed with hard hats and a very big torch, we went down a very narrow, very steep, very old, very mysterious hole.

There was a lot of time spent in the tiny chamber at the bottom of the 29 steps making scary faces by shining the large torch under our chins.

Which, the boys reckoned, was what the original builders did too. Although they also thought it would be far more exciting with a naked flame!

This is number 14 in my Must See in Orkney series. To see the first 13 go back to the Tomb of the Eagles and follow the trail.
