Red, Green, and Blue

It's a big day today. First I'll talk about the photo. My brother is officially done with the Navy after a four year and six month service. His contract was for a flat five years, but in order for him to catch the upcoming school year he asked to leave early. His request was granted and today he becomes a civilian. Our family is proud of him and we're happy to have him back home. It will have to take some taking used to to him being home every day. My room will no longer be my room, it will be our room.

About my inter view. I thought I did extremely well. When I first got there (there being an employment agency), I was asked to fill out an application. Then I waited to get interviewed. My interviewer was really nice and she thoroughly asked about each detail about my resume except my major. Almost every interview I had, the interview would ask film, huh? I wouldn't know how to respond, so I always gave some bad answer because I couldn't find a link between the industries I applied for. I recently bought a book (You Majored in What?) and it gave wonderful advice as to how I can bend my major to fit the companies need. I was prepared to answer the question, but she didn't bother asking. Regardless, I thought I passed the interview with flying colors. I did not say anything negative and I left with you doubts of giving a bad answer.

Afterwards, she made me take two tests - a Microsoft Word test and a typing test. My mom had been waiting for employment agencies to do more than ask for a resume. She had wanted them to give me some sort of test and finally today they took the time to give me not one, but two. I mean these are no big tests, but at least they can see what I can do. For the Word test, I scored 100% and it was just a competency test of how Word works. It tested me on some functions that I hardly ever use, such as making labels and marco (whatever that is). The functions I didn't know quite well, I just clicked under each menu until I found what I needed.

The typing test was really easy. I know I can type fast and I've written down on my resume that I can do 65 WPM just to be on the modest side, but it depends on the keyboard I use. If I use a sucky where the keys are all sticky and slow moving then I'll make several errors and my overall speed will go down. But there keyboard was nice and easy to press. My raw score was 75 WPM with an adjusted 74 WPM after errors. That last error was only because I ran out of time. The last word I had to type was inappropriate, but only had time to do inapp. Nonetheless I did "phenomenal" according to my interviewer and she said I should be hearing back from her by or before September first for a second interview with the actual company.

About the job I applied for, I'll just say that I would have to deal with some French Canadians over the phone. A job where I could use my French would be such a perfect job!! I'm so excited about this. I could not ask for anything more. Now, I've just got to land it...
