Farewell

After over 200 years this tree is getting culled on Monday.

So we've one last weekend before it gets pulled down.

It stands right outside our house so it's become a fixture in our lives and I've always thought it was a very handsome old tree. But the local council have classified it as a 'Dangerous Tree" so its days are numbered. The problem is that all the branches come from the one place at the bottom of the trunk so they can't lop branches off apparently as it would die then anyway.

The kids have all done some tree hugging (so have I on the quiet) and I'll have to stop them climbing up it on Monday when the tree killing squad arrive.

A sapling will be planted in its place but unfortunately I won't be here in another 200 years when it gets to this size.
