Remove Foreign Object

And... Implant Intraocular Lens.
"Perfect," said the ophthalmologist as he finished up the cataract removal.

YES. I scrubbed in for surgery with my pops this morning to observe and document some cataract surgeries. A friend, we'll call him "B", signed a medical student/photograph release prior to his surgery and I started snap-snap-snapping away. I got in the way (sorry nurses). BUT I also got some great shots to share this experience with his entire family. He goes in on Wednesday morning for his left eye.
But this is great fodder for my medical school interview on Thursday. (Let the countdown begin! or.. continue!)

My dad is an amazingly talented eye surgeon. He makes intraocular lens implantation looks as simple as making tiramisu.. or actually easier. Tiramisu takes longer with that double boiler nonsense (but oh - it's so tasty and rich on my lips). I don't know why I'm talking about food - I just finished off a big bowl of turkey and sausage gumbo. (Seriously, my dad is the best cook ever.)

I'm tired. I dreamt about surgeries all night last night and kept waking up in anticipation of watching another. I love it. It's absolutely fascinating.

What I'm looking forward to tomorrow: My Russian Biochem professor showing me photos of him in an underground Russian Rock band from the 70s. FTW. He's only showing me because he saw me editing photos of Eisley during lab a few weeks ago.
The semester is winding down, but my schedule is ramping up. Looking forward to spending a few lovely (and exhausting) weeks in Austin...

Cheers, Blippingtonshire
