Promiscuity

Until today, I had no idea how promiscuous ladybirds were.

B, whilst digging holes for his builder friend, spotted a whole army of ladybirds. He decided that they would make a good blip for me and managed to capture around 20 of them in his empty Tictac container.

He delivered them to me. We watched in amazement as they proceeded to do 'The Marital Act' pretty much continuously. We were particularly impressed with the ones who seemed to be breakdancing in flagrante!

Anyway, far too busy were they and not at all photographable. B had the bright idea of putting them in the freezer to 'calm them down'.

Now, I'm against animal cruelty of any kind but he assured me that he wouldn't leave them in the freezer for long enough to kill them, just to make them a bit more co-operative.

I believed him.

About half of them huddled inside the dandelion for warmth, I guess.

All twenty were duly photographed, defrosted (by my photo lamp) and set free in the sea of roses which is B's mum's garden.

No ladybirds were harmed in the making of this blip.

In other news, I planted my four roses today. I am looking forward to their blooms.

And maybe some ladybirds ...

Night.
