Freezing Fog on the Forth

His Lordship hacked the car out from underneath its tarpaulin of frozen ice this morning so that we could drive to Dobbies for a festive coffee and the inevitable cake.
As we returned home via Braid Hills road I blipped this view over Craigmillar Park Golf Course to the blanket of freezing fog lying behind the city on the Forth, leaving Fife clear in the distance.

Walking in the capital is getting worse by the day. The pavements are pockmarked with crevices of iced slush so slippery that pedestrians are being forced to walk on the roadway. I have armed myself with a walking pole which has a lethal spike at the end. It acts as my third leg and imbues me with enough confidence to walk almost normally, not tottering along like a two year old waiting to slip on my bahoochie.

One of our neighbours informed us today that the old bye-law instructing householders to clear the pavement outside their properties has been rescinded, so that if you do clear a path and someone slips on the cleared bit, you could be liable for any damages, not the council. Ergo it is better to slip on icy, ungritted and uncleared footpaths ,unloved by the council. Then presumably they will pay out........ I wonder!

Actually come to think of it, I have to say I'm a bit fed up with the snow here in Edinburgh. It's not white and virgin fresh anymore, but has degenerated into a frozen slushy icy mess.

Bah, humbug!
