Blip The Festivals

As you probably know, Edinburgh is Blipfoto's hometown - it's where it all started and where we still run things from.

Edinburgh is also home to the world's biggest festival. Every August the city's population doubles as people flock from around the world to take part in events including the Fringe, Jazz, Book, Art and International festivals.

Sitting at the heart of all this is edinburghfestivals.co.uk, who are the representative body for the 12 year round festivals in Edinburgh. They were knocked out with some of the amazing material you uploaded to Blipfoto last year. So, a couple of months ago, they approached us with plans to get this year's festival blips much more widely seen, and some of the people working and performing in Edinburgh to share their own experiences through Blipfoto.

So that's exactly what we're doing, and it starts this week. We're feeding a constant stream of Blipfoto entries through to edinburghfestivals.co.uk (with a click straight back to the original journal), along with a bunch of guest festival blippers, who'll be joining us here and on the Edinburgh Festivals website.

If you're in Edinburgh during August and want to have your images more widely seen, it's really easy to take part - just tag your festival entries 'blipthefestivals' and we'll take care of the rest. The Edinburgh Festivals also have a bulging bag of exclusive festival prizes, which they'll be awarding to those who upload the most outstanding images in the coming weeks - more on that soon!
