Day 17: Exploring San Pedro

Alas, our last full day. We were both too sunburned to spend much time outside so we went to town to do our last souvenir shopping and to explore. We were both feeling a bit sad that our amazing trip was almost done. I missed my family a lot though and wanted to get home to see them.

We discovered a pupusateria. Pupusas are El Savadorean food. Corn flour dough is mixed around the filling of your choice, the pancake is grilled and you top it off with a salty tangy cabbage slaw and tomato sauce. Hot sauce is optional. Being vegetarian, my fillings of choice were beans and cheese, spinach and cheese and pumpkin and cheese. Oh, yumm!

Later we snorkeled for our last time just off the beach. We swam among the mangroves and thousands of tiny baby fish. How much life there is!
