Plus ça change...

Today we will be mainly driving...

Breakfast on the ferry was going well, until it turned out that "Pain au chocolate" on a ferry means "Pain au nutella". Grand, except for the allergy-child.

That flurry of excitement (and many free cinnamon swirls in apology) aside, it was just driving.

We drove through the rain and traffic jams in the Netherlands, the rain in Luxembourg, the intermittent rain and roadworks in Belgium. The we hit France, started paying for the pleasure of being on the road, and suddenly all was well: no roadworks, no rain, hardly any traffic. The miles were eaten up and before we knew it, Dijon beckoned. We found a proper US style "drive up to your door" motel too, then went to the motorway caff for steak frites, wine and cheese.

One minor incident: at one point Mr B was driving just maybe a little over the speed limit - you know how cars can just drift away from you sometimes - and on an information display panel over the carriageway it said our car registration plate and "TOO FAST". Spooky. Mr B said it wouldn't work for him because he never reads those displays.
