Yellow!

Rapeseed flowers, Brassica napus

This is one of two fields adjacent to the main road. Together they extend 2.5 km one way and at least 1 km the other. I took the photo from a road between them. The colour and light was exciting, but the heavy perfume was almost overwhelming.

The mountains are the the southern end of the Craigieburn Range where they reach out from behind the Torlesse Range. The left-hand peak is the same one that I blipped under the bridge yesterday. The area immediately to the right of it is Porters Ski Field.

Best seen large.

My sympathy to Christchurch blippers. Late this afternoon there was a particularly bad aftershock, after several days of relative calm. It must have set the adrenaline surging again.
