Georgia on my mind!

Snowing like the blazes most of the day....had a lovely morning, first a Nia class which was extremely dynamic. Then a new friend - actually they are all new friends here.....Jitka and i went out for a coffee and a visit. She's also a potter so we had a wonderful discussion about philosophy of selling your work...production (me) versus sort of one of a kind ..(her), and just how we each viewed our reasons for making pots! It was so stimulating. It has always been the downside of being a solitary potter (artist), you really have to create a community and have very intentional discussions. So we'll continue talking and exploring. We both fire in electric kilns and to the same temperature range, so lots in common!

My amaryllis - as you can see - is beginning that amazing transformation...it is the most exciting thing to witness! I swear it grows an inch each day!

No wonder Georgio O'keeffe was so drawn to making images of opening buds, flowers, skulls etc....the forms are so beautiful! I might try and paint an image from one of the photographs i took. Mucking around in photoshop sort of has a similar effect, but so much faster! But what is missing is the sensuality of applying paint to canvas....nothing can replace that!
