Cat in a Marrakech Tree

This cat evidently spends a good deal of her time in this tree, near the center of Marrakech (Morocco), for I saw her yesterday as well. Then she was in the midst of cleaning herself--not especially photogenic!

Beneath her is a typical small street in this market area, with constant coming and going of other cats (there must be many hundreds in the streets--but no dogs), persons, motorcycles, motor bikes, bicycles, and delivery vehicles of all kinds--donkey- or horse-powered, human-powered, and motorized. As an mere pedestrian (especially visiting) it is essential to keep to the side, for many of the above vehicles pass by at considerable speeds, with or without warning.

A mere photograph can't really convey the chaos on such streets--so I decided to put up a directly contrasting blip! :-)

Edit: Just as I had put up the above I went to a full-body massage, at the riad (akin to a bed-and-breakfast) where we are staying--it was marvelous, as our entire experience here has been. We arrived Sunday evening and will be leaving early Friday. Our lodgings are excellent --just six rooms and a superb cook with whom Marylee shopped in the market this morning and then had a full two-hour lesson as she cooked dinner for at least eight this afternoon. The owners (from France) are expert on all aspects of Marrakech, and could not be more welcoming and helpful.
