While on my runs

A special carpark

This morning I chose to do my Maungawhau course. On the way from home to the Maungawhau Domain, I went through K Road, location for many of the most raunchy night spots, and at about 7 am they were still going loud with people all over the footpaths; even night clubs have a smoking ban. I have always been too diffident to take any photographs through here, even though there is the occasional great image on offer.

At the corner where I turn into Mount Eden Road I spied this painted box. Rather than a Telecom box, it is (as is very forcefully stated by a sticker over the painting) connected with the traffic signals at the intersection. This is Number Three in my series of such painted boxes (#1 and #2).

The carpark behind the box is where patrons park for Galbraiths (in the background; front seen here) and for some rather good restaurants. I presume that is why two figures are holding wine glasses and the older man is on a (bar) stool.

I considered cropping the picture, which would have given a bit of enlargement, but I liked the flowers to the left (as did my special adviser, S), and to the right in the distance can be seen the peak of Maungawhau where I was heading. So totally untouched, you have Box # 3.
