Another lovely day. With no rain for over a week the soil is good for working. I hand weeded three sections of my overgrown vegetable garden and put them to bed for the winter. That is, I sprinkled the surface with blood and bone, and then covered it with very old pea straw. I put an extra thick layer on the scarlet runner bean roots in hopes that they will survive the winter. They rarely do.
