An audience with

Rob.
We don't mention his likeness to a certain actor.
He doesn't like it so much!

We've had an evening over at the Liverpool (Junior) Hebdon household. The Senior household is just down the road so I have to distinguish between the two!

It was lovely. The two youngest members of the household were in bed when we arrived at 8.30, but they heard us and it didn't take long before the little voices called from the top of the stairs to see who it was. I confess to being pleased, as I haven't seen Joe and James for twelve months and it was wonderful to spend 20 minutes with them. Our James had already disappeared off with Rob Junior to play on some sort of games console...xbox, wii, who knows.

The youngest sent back to bed, the eldest busy gaming, that meant the 'olds' could sit in the living room and start scanning in the old photos that we found in the suitcase last week (see link at the top).

The men consumed beer, Marie consumed wine (I confess to suffering a little alcohol envy) and I supped tea and ate chilli crisps. When we were done, Marie and I were entertained by our James and their Rob, who get on famously and are hilarious together. The men retreated to the kitchen, broke out the whiskey and "bonded over adhesives" - to clarify, they were NOT glue sniffing, but apparently having a discussed about which adhesive was best for different functions (possibly sticking Rob's number plate back on his car!)

As always, it was lovely to spend some time with them, and there will be more to come, if they can take any more of our company, as there are still two more suitcases to be opened.

The photo...it was difficult to choose. I have some lovely ones of the boys together, a cracker from when the big chocolate labrador decided to climb on Corin's head to eat his glasses and some lovely shots of Rob, manfully demonstrating that men CAN multitask by holding a glass of alcohol whilst using his telephone.

Tomorrow, some portraits for a family friend and keeping colleagues updated on the progress of one of our teachers who is doing an 85 mile walk (The Parish Walk) around the Isle of Man...85 miles in 24 hours....and she is determined she is going to do it. So Eleanor - my fingers are crossed. Good luck - you're a lunatic, but it's a good cause and I am dead proud of you for doing it.
