Monday 18 July 2011: Better than a slater up your beak...
As my Grandad used to say, this is a slater and I could think of many things that would be better than having this up your nose.
While throwing some rotting bark in the wheelie last night I noticed quite a few of these. Tonight, with suitable macro subjects thin on the ground I retrieved the back and it was teaming with woodlice. This was the biggest of them and he needed coaxing to get the shot I wanted. Thankfully, these are easily coaxed by a gentle prod and they will quite happily trot the other direction.
