A day of boats!

Over the past few days we have been gradually bringing the mooring closer and closer into the shore. We attached barrels to the mooring chain and at low tide went out and shortened the chain, so that at high tide it would lift the mooring out of the mud, and then towed it in the the slip. Finally, on Sunday, we got it ashore. Hooray!

Then we headed off to the boat show in the East Mainland. Great fun, lots of lovely old boats, mostly locally built fishing ones, some new showy speed boats, model yachts, a raft race, fishing supplies and a boat jumble stall. Amazingly we got away with only buying a handful of raffle tickets and a couple of Orkney steak buns!

We headed home, via friends who have a big old sailing boat at the marina, and enjoyed coffee and doughnuts in the galley. Yo ho ho - but no rum!

A really super day.
