Pier

Over in Stromness for a meeting this morning and took the chance to go to the Pier arts centre and see the Sylvia Wishart exhibition.

You tend to bump into her paintings in various places all over Orkney but it was wonderful to see them collected in the one place for once. Also great to see how her work developed and changed throughout her life. Right from her school days to later life.

The exhibition is on show until 5th November so I'm going to try to go back for another look. Hopefully this time without the bunch of art gallery groupies who just had to discuss everything at the top of their voices and let us know just how well they know the critic jargon. Much better gallery companions were the two little ladies with the shopping bags who were reminiscing about all the different places and people depicted in the paintings.
