Saturday 24 May 2008: One Road
The road to a friends house is never long is a saying, but if you and your friend both lives on Terschellling it can't be long as well. This sign is posted at the end of the only main road on Terschelling and it says: This road is 14,5 km long, and was constructed with the aid of the Government in 1910. I really don't know why the construction of a road is a reason to make such a monument, but in 1910 the people of this island were really poor, so a new road was really something in those days.
