Bowles White

Crocus sieberi 'Bowles White'

Having mentioned E A Bowles in yesterdays journal, by happy coincidence here is a plant that he raised, still in cultivation nearly a century later. Bowles raised many crocus from seed and was especially pleased when this pure white form of Crocus sieberi appeared, noting his excitement in his diary. Crocus sieberi is usually lilac or white with purple markings .... I will be able to show you another time :-)

Easily grown and early flowering, it increases slowly. It can be obtained from specialist bulb nurseries.
