Tuesday 24 January 2012: Sir Basil Spence in the Canongate
This is a view from down by Holyrood Road of the flats designed for the old Edinburgh Corporation by Sir Basil Spence which were completed in the late 1960s. Seen like this , they sit between an old tenement and the Royal Mile Primary School.
They remain a striking feature of the Canongate for they add greatly to the variety of what is already a very varied streetscape, yet still fit in.
Pity about the television aerials, though.
