Those Pesky Bulls

I decided to milk my little stack of old French tabloids for another blilp, since the only alternative was my fixing of a ceiling.

Le Petit Journal, March 3, 1895 complains of a stray bull near the Palais de l'Industrie, where it had won a few medals just a little earlier. The journal suggested that the beast would have been better off in a Spanish bull ring. It also stated that it was taken straight to the abattoir at La Villette just after this last exploit.

I used to ride my bike or walk through La Villette, which is next to a canal at the edge of Paris, and was on my way to work. The slaughterhouses are long gone, and it's a park now, with a small museum and a fountain. Concerts are held there in the summer, but I'd pass through only in odd hours when the place was empty.
