Wednesday 1 February 2012: The call to prayer
Fes is an amazing city. We stayed in the new part but did a thorough walk through the old Medina. It is a maze of little lane ways and bustling with life. Thank goodness we had a guide as it would be so easy to get lost in there. This is The University of Al-Karaouine or Al-Qarawiyyin which was founded in 859 by a woman. It has been and continues to be one of the leading spiritual and educational centers of the Muslim world. In all the mayhem of the Medina, at the time of prayer, this was an island of solitude and quite prayer.
I realise this is my 300th - no speeches now other than thanks for your continued support and taking the time to drop by and take a peek at my journal.
