Life Cycle

Today I was taught the life cycle of a butterfly by a group of 6 year olds. They were right too!

I went to visit our Year 2 class to see their newly hatched monarch. Their teacher had told them about the probiscus of a butterfly so they tried to interest her (the butterfly not the teacher) in some sugar water so that they could watch it.

Sadly the royal one wasn't interested in performing for the kids so we all trooped out to our butterfly garden to release it. Then we stopped off to look at the mural painted on the back of the garden - it is covered with butterflies and was painted by a former pupil.

After a discussion there the students 'flew' back to the classroom, arms stretched, looking just like a group of blue butterflies winging their way across the field.
