BikerBear's Blips

Cyclamen Flower

This is one of the flowers on a little cyclamen plant that my Mum gave me (thanks, Mum) - it was on the kitchen windowsill but almost died there - moved it into the sitting room (and onto the windowsill in there) and now it's thriving.

They are strange little plants in that the opening to the flower is kind of underneath and, until you look up into it, you don't realise all the stamens etc. are there - papery little upturned leaves on the flower but strong fleshy leaves on the plant.

Much messing about fun crawling around on the floor to take this up into the flower - tried turning the plant upsidedown - big mistake, soil everywhere - raised the plant up, balanced on all manner of things, not too good either. Settled for this!

Quite nice on large but a little "noisy" > LARGE <

For those interested -

In many languages, the cyclamen species are colloquially called by a name like the English sowbread, because they are said to be eaten by pigs:
pain de pourceau in French,
pan porcino in Italian,
varkensbrood in Dutch,
pigs' manj? in Japanese

40 consecutive blips now - am feeling quite proud of myself!

No daily blips tomorrow or Wednesday - going to Italy (hard life!!) however the forecast is for rain on both days so :-(
Will backblip on Thursday when I will be home.
