Flooding at the River Mouth

A couple months ago I showed an image of the way our river changes course in the winter. The recent days of steady rain added a bit more drama, with the water lapping up against the retaining wall of the amusement park. Emergency permits were secured to allow changing the course of the river. I'm not sure what happens to the heavy equipment, as they seem to have created an island for the machinery as they push the heavy sand around. They did succeed in cutting a small channel to divert some of the river flow to the base of the cliffs. I didn't stick around very long--it was very windy, wet and cold.
