Pulsatilla vulgaris, the Pasque Flower, just cries out to be stroked. A real touchy-feely plant, especially in bud. Sadly this is not the flower shown in bud a month ago which was a victim of its own precocity, ravaged by the weather. These make a good substitute though :-)

Pulsatilla vulgaris, native in Norfolk and adjacent counties, is an easy garden plant given a sunny spot and deep, free draining soil. It's sandy here and they can make big clumps.
