Monday 23 April 2012: Maruia Falls

This afternoon I had to run a student home because he'd got back from Outdoor Ed too late to catch the bus. He lives 30km out of town, just past the Maruia Falls, so I felt I just had to stop and photograph them.

I have blipped a slow shutter speed capture - hand held so not 100% focussed, because I know that many of you like the 'soft' water effect. I personally prefer the faster shutter speed for these falls, which to me shows the energy (almost violence) of the water, so I've put that one here in my blipfolio.

This is definitely better viewed large to get an idea of the size of the falls. There is not as much water in the river as there would usually be at this time of year - we're having an unusually dry autumn.
